PADI Open Water Diver Course

Now Training with Dive Computers!

Learn to scuba dive The PADI Open Water Diver Course is the first step to becoming a certified scuba diver.

The Open Water Diver Course consists of classroom discussions where you will learn about the basics of scuba diving and safety rules, pool skill development, a written quiz and four open water dives which may be done locally with us or offshore if you have a vacation planned to a tropical destination.

Our course is designed so you can complete the classroom and pool work in a single weekend, and conditions permitting, your open water evaluation the following week!

Complete Open Water Scuba Certification Course: $425
Your first option is to take the entire course with us, (classroom, pool dives and open water training dives). Since we have three locations, you can complete your classroom and pool-diving phases anytime throughout the year, and as the weather warms up, you can join us for our Open Water training dives which are run generally from May through October. We schedule training dives both during the week, and on selected weekends. Your Instructor will discuss training dive options with you during your class. For the most enjoyment we recommend you complete your Open Water training dives as soon after your class and pool weekend as possible. To sign up for your training dives, simply stop by or just give us a call and we can tell you what dates and times we have available.

Referral Option: $369
The second option for starting your scuba certification is called the “Referral Option”. This is the most popular choice for our traveling divers during our winter season. This option allows you to attend our classroom sessions and our pool diving, which is conducted over one weekend at our Delafield, Menomonee Falls or Hales Corners locations. When you have successfully completed the classroom and pool-diving phase, the next step is to take the written test. Once you score 75% or better on your test, we can issue you the Referral Form, which documents your completion of the classroom & pool-diving phases of the course. You can take this Referral Form to any PADI Instructor worldwide to complete your Open Water Training Dives.

Open Water course materials

A brief quiz is taken following the completion of all classroom sessions. The quiz is based on the information you read in the course manuals and saw in the course DVD as well as during the classroom presentations.

After successful completion of the written quiz, you proceed to the open water evaluation, which consists of four dives. This evaluation is a repeat of the skills you learned in the pool, but performed in an open water (outdoor) environment. To complete your Open Water Certification, we recommend these four dives be completed within 6 months of finishing the class/pool training.

When you sign up for class, you will receive the PADI Open Water Diver Student Packet, with class manual and DVD. It is important that you read the manual, complete the review questions after each chapter and watch the entire video prior to attending class, as these materials cover all performance requirements for the class/pool training and the open water evaluation.

Our store provides all the equipment required for you to complete the course and local training dives, including the use of a Dive Computer but excluding mask, snorkel, fins, and boots!

For advice on purchasing your basic snorkeling gear, please see our How To Buy page.

Learn to use a dive computer Because our classes have a tremendous response, full payment will guarantee your place in the class and get you started with your manual and class materials.

If, upon completion of the Sunday pool session, you and your Instructor feel that you need more practice before your open water dives, you can always join us at our next available pool session at no charge!

We offer class discounts for groups of four or more that sign up and pay together for the same class dates. We are also pleased to offer you a student discount on any and all equipment purchases needed for the class. It's our way of saying thanks for letting us exceed your expectations!

If you find that you must change or cancel the date of your enrollment, please call us as soon as possible. We will try to accommodate your needs as best we can.

Online Course Option

You also have the option of completing the classroom portion of your training online through the PADI E-Learning website for only $174.00. You'll quickly master the same information that is presented in the classroom but have the opportunity to complete this part of your training at any time, day or night. Once you are successful at the online Knowledge Development portion, you can let us know which of our scheduled weekends you'd like to join us for pool training.

To complete your training, you'll join us in the pool and open water (depending on the season).
