The Open Water Diver Course consists of classroom discussions where you will learn about the basics of scuba diving and safety rules, pool skill development, a written quiz and four open water dives which may be done locally with us or offshore if you have a vacation planned to a tropical destination.
Our course is designed so you can complete the classroom and pool work in a single weekend, and conditions permitting, your open water evaluation the following week!

A brief quiz is taken following the completion of all classroom sessions. The quiz is based on the information you read in the course manuals and saw in the course DVD as well as during the classroom presentations.
After successful completion of the written quiz, you proceed to the open water evaluation, which consists of four dives. This evaluation is a repeat of the skills you learned in the pool, but performed in an open water (outdoor) environment. To complete your Open Water Certification, we recommend these four dives be completed within 6 months of finishing the class/pool training.
When you sign up for class, you will receive the PADI Open Water Diver Student Packet, with class manual and DVD. It is important that you read the manual, complete the review questions after each chapter and watch the entire video prior to attending class, as these materials cover all performance requirements for the class/pool training and the open water evaluation. Our store provides all the equipment required for you to complete the course and local training dives, including the use of a Dive Computer but excluding mask, snorkel, fins, and boots!
For advice on purchasing your basic snorkeling gear, please see our How To Buy page.Because our classes have a tremendous response, full payment will guarantee your place in the class and get you started with your manual and class materials.
If, upon completion of the Sunday pool session, you and your Instructor feel that you need more practice before your open water dives, you can always join us at our next available pool session at no charge!
We offer class discounts for groups of four or more that sign up and pay together for the same class dates.
