Scuba Refresher Class
Been a few years since you've been diving?
A little apprehensive about jumping in the water on your next vacation?
Then join us for a Scuba Review!
We offer review and refresher classes to certified divers, regardless of where or with whom you were certified.
The Scuba Review program consists of two parts: a Knowledge Review and a Confined Water Skills Review.
The Knowledge Review segment covers basic safety information you learned during your entry-level training.
The only material you need is the PADI Scuba Tune-Up Guidebook.
The Confined Water Skills Session consists of a two to three hour pool skill review, including equipment setup and disassembly, all basic skills from the PADI Open Water Diver course including:
- Deep Water Entries
- Buoyancy checks
- Regulator/Snorkel exchanges
- Proper descents
- Regulator recovery and clearing
- Mask removal and replacement
- Air depletion exercises
- Free-flow regulator breathing
- Neutral buoyancy fin pivots
- Proper Ascents
- Removal and replacement of weights
- Controlled emergency swimming ascents
- Neutral buoyancy-hovering
- Underwater swim without a mask
- Remove/replace scuba underwater
- Alternate air source use
as well as time for personal questions or skill practice. The diver will be under the direction of a certified and insured member of our professional staff. Once the Knowledge Review and Confined Water Skill Review is completed, you will receive a completion sticker for your certification card to prove you have been keeping your skills up to date.
Anyone age 10 or older may participate in the Scuba Review program. You will need to provide proof of your certification prior to entering the water.
The second option for those not wishing the Scuba Review sticker is the Pool Review session only. This consists of a two hour pool session with one of our professional staff, where basic skills will be reviewed and feedback given to the participant.
New....Scuba Tuneup Online!
- What does it cover?
PADI Scuba Tune-up Online content is broken down into 8 easy-to-learn sections after an introduction, covering Safe Diving Practices, Dive Planning Fundamentals, Problem Management, Breathing Air at Depth, Dive Computers and Dive Tables, Planning Dives with the RDP, Diving with Enriched Air Nitrox and Dive Skills Review.
- Who can benefit from completing the course?
The course is designed for anyone who wants to refresh their dive knowledge. The program is primarily designed for certified divers who wish to return to scuba diving after a period of inactivity, however, it is also a great resource for those divers who are returning to a course after a shorter break in the training.
- What else is required to complete the course?
While PADI Scuba Tune-up Online does not necessarily require that any training dives in confined or open water take place, it is certainly recommended so that your skills can be refreshed as well as your knowledge.
