TDI/SDI Technical Diving Courses

Advanced Nitrox

The objective of this course is to train divers in the benefits, hazards and proper procedures for utilizing EANx21 through EANx100 for dives not requiring staged decompression
(Decompression techniques may be combined with this course).

Prerequisites:
  • Minimum of 25 logged dives,
    or Instructor's discretion
  • TDI Nitrox Certification or equivalent
  • 15 years of age (18 if combined with Decompression Procedures)
 Required Equipment:
  • Scuba cylinder with pony bottle (minimum 30 cu. ft.) setup for backup or
  • Scuba cylinder with H-valve with redundant regulator or
  • Twin cylinder setup with isolation manifold and two regulators
  • Two complete cold-water ready regulators
  • Depth gauge & automatic bottom timer (or computer)
  • Backup depth gauge/bottom timer (or computer)
  • Submersible pressure gauge
  • Exposure suit adequate for the local environment
  • Access to O2 analyzer
    Note: Cylinders and regulators need to be properly cleaned and labeled as ready for oxygen service.
Course Requirements
  • 6-8 hours classroom time
  • 200 yard surface swim in full scuba gear
  • A Minimum of 4 open water dives (with 100 minutes of bottom time)
The TDI Advanced Nitrox Program is not for everyone....we do not accept all candidates.
This course is very demanding, and is not for everyone. Be sure you have mastered all the basic scuba skills including hovering/neutral buoyancy. Equipment requirements are also very intensive, and no shortcuts or exceptions will be allowed. Payment for this course does not guarantee certification.

Decompression Procedures

The objective of this course is to train divers how to plan and conduct a standard staged decompression dive not exceeding a maximum depth of 150 feet. The most common equipment requirements, gear setups, decompression techniques and decompression mixtures (including oxygen and nitrox) are presented.

  • Minimum of 25 logged dives or Instructor's discretion
  • TDI Nitrox certification or equivalent
  • 18 years of age
 Required Equipment:
  • Scuba cylinder with pony bottle setup for backup or
  • Scuba cylinder with H-valve with redundant regulator or
  • Twin cylinder setup with isolation manifold and two regulators
  • Decompression mix cylinder(s) with complete regulator setups
  • Two complete cold-water ready regulators
  • Depth gauge & automatic bottom timer (or computer)
  • Backup depth gauge/bottom timer (or computer)
  • Exposure suit adequate for the local environment
  • Lift bag and reel (minimum 25 lb. lift bag)
  • Back inflation TECH BC or wings/harness adequate for equipment configuration
  • Access to O2 analyzer
  • Underwater slate w/writing utensil

Solo Diver

We realize that many divers dive by themselves, but this in no way makes them "solo divers". They are neither trained nor knowledgable in the hazards to which they may be exposing themselves. The SDI Solo Diving course examines the benefits, hazards, and proper procedures for planning and conducting solo dives. Completing this course empowers you with specific knowledge, enabling you to make a sound risk analysis when engaging in this type of diving.

Prerequisites:
  • Minimum of 100 logged dives
  • Advanced Diver certification or equivalent
  • Signed Medical Waiver
  • 21 years of age
 Required Equipment:
  • Scuba cylinder with pony bottle setup for backup or
  • Scuba cylinder with H-valve with redundant regulator or
  • Twin cylinder setup with isolation manifold and two regulators
  • Two complete cold-water ready regulators
  • Depth gauge & automatic bottom timer (or computer)
  • Backup depth gauge/bottom timer (or computer)
  • Exposure suit adequate for the local environment
  • Lift bag and reel (minimum 25 lb. lift bag)
Course Requirements
  • 6-8 hours classroom time

  • A Minimum of 2 open water dives (most divers require 4 or more dives)

Tri-Mix Course

Prerequisites:
  • 18 years old or older
  • 100 logged dives
  • Minimum certification level of Advanced Nitrox & Decompression Procedures (or equivalent)
 Required Equipment:
  • Twin cylinder setup with isolation manifold & bands (min. 2 sets, preferably 3)
  • Two high performance cold-water ready regulators
  • Two Decompression mix cylinder(s) with complete regulator/gauge setups
  • Drysuit Inflation cylinder with 1st stage, drysuit hose, OPV valve, & gauge
  • Depth gauge & automatic bottom timer (or computer)
  • Backup depth gauge/bottom timer (or computer)
  • Exposure suit adequate for the local environment (drysuit)
  • Lift bag/SMB and spool/reel (minimum 50 lb. lift bag)
  • Wings/backplate/harness adequate for equipment configuration
  • Primary Light
  • Backup Light(s)
  • Cutting tools
  • Access to O2 & He analyzer
  • Underwater slate w/writing utensil

Note: Cylinders and regulators need to be properly cleaned and labeled as ready for oxygen service.
Course Requirements:
  • Classroom & briefings = 8 hours
  • Satisfactorily complete the TDI Trimix Exam
  • All bottom mixes must have 18% or higher oxygen
  • Minimum 4 open water dives (provided all skills have been mastered)
  • Minimum 100 minutes bottom time, with no training dive deeper than 200 feet
  • Demonstrate sound, mature judgement concerning dive planning & execution
